Buying high-quality fabrics – not so easy
Finding truly high-quality fabrics is often more difficult than you might think – even in Italy. While many mills boast the "Made in Italy" label, it's still worth a closer look.
Where does cotton really come from?
Cotton, as a raw material, never comes from Italy – it grows in countries with the right climate, such as Egypt, Peru, the USA, or parts of Africa . My printed shirts are made exclusively from Egyptian cotton , known for its fine, long-staple quality.
“Made in Italy” – not always what it promises
Many fabric manufacturers have their cotton woven in Albania or other countries and then add the finishing touches in Italy – and then the “Made in Italy” label can be added.
How do you recognize genuine Italian woven fabric?
Quite simply: the price. A genuine fabric woven in Italy usually costs more than €10 per meter . If the price is lower, I become skeptical.
