I've defined the eight details of my clothing with a seal. The seal is stamped on the packaging of each garment.
With this, I try to set up a clear set of rules so that you can see as transparently as possible which criteria I actually use to produce my work.
The Lily Seal is a seal I developed myself, a set of rules that defines the standards my products must meet regarding quality and sustainability. The lily is the coat of arms of my hometown, Wiesbaden. A traditional German city with which I always associate consistency. Hence the seal with the lily.
It includes the following rules according to which all my garments are made (also available here ):
1. 100% natural materials. Only natural materials are used, with no synthetic additives.
2. No unnecessary plastic. The shirts are completely plastic-free. The use of plastic in packaging is kept to a minimum. Only accessories such as shirt clips are made of plastic. The zippers on the knitwear are made of metal with a plastic-like tape.
3. At least one step is hand-crafted. All products are hand-crafted with at least one step. You can find this information in the product description for each garment. This includes hand-dyeing, but also knitting on semi-manual knitting machines.
4. 100% sustainable accessories. All garment accessories are made from 100% sustainable materials. These include horn or mother-of-pearl buttons, stainless steel collar stays, and cotton labels and washing instructions.
5. No sourcing companies. All garments are manufactured according to the "from-factory-to-client" principle. There are no middlemen or sourcing partners.
6. No child labor. The seamstresses in my collections have several years of professional experience and are fairly compensated for their work.
7. No animal suffering in production. I source the wool from the most renowned wool producers in Peru and Italy. The animals all live outdoors in the Andes and are sheared exclusively for their wool. Alpacas are not farmed animals for the meat processing industry.
8. I source non-alpaca wool from the most renowned weaving mills in Italy or from Italian overproduction. This wool is then not thrown away but resold to me.
